Its been a while

WE have been fairly busy here, tack room is finally on the home stretch, and the wallpapering has been done... (pics to follow).

Seems to never be enough hours in the day!
Sadly for Billy, Kerry has left for greener pastures in the north island and a great new job.
I have two of her and Pips pony's here for a bit while things are sorted, both lovely girls, who are behaving very well.

Teddy's saddle arrived yesterday, so will be fun getting him sorted...

Abbie is to go to be sold on behalf come September, and Bubs is due start of October...

I am hoping to have some down time before then, but at the moment am still very busy.

Horses had feeties done last week and teeth this week, and tet/strangles boosters have been done, so hopefully they will be all good to go for a bit...

sad times

Mum's old dog Isky had to be put to sleep on Friday, she wasn't coping with the cold...
Nells went to her new home on Saturday, as well... along with a few family members ending up in hospital.

Shaun was lovely and has got me a new car, which I have named Isky after mums dog.

Both my cars are now tucked up in the garage, don't think I have ever had a car in the garage, let alone 2!

Teds is on a paddock on the lawn, loving running around the mounds, so will look to make it a perminant area for him soon.

Next weekend we hope to get things shifted into the shed from the house...yay! so will then be able to get the cot sorted!

Things are ticking over at home

Nells looks to have found a new home, which is super, but maybe with me for another week or 2 now...
Teddy is scared of jumping the creak (well about an inch deep and 30 cms wide) even to the point of going without dinner! He has been shown how to get across as well, silly pony...

Rest of the tack room is now ready for jib... and I got some paint fr it last week... saddle racks have arrived as well.
The inside of the house is coming on slowly...

Billy and Abbie are getting hairier, if that is possible!

I got a plant for Isky yesterday as I feel her time has nearly come, very sad on alot of levels for me...

SLACK!

Sorry have been very busy... Have finished painting spare room, just mural to put up now! Have also painted the lounge as well.
The storage room/tack room is looking great, and hopefully can move some of the furniture out of the house and garage in a few weeks...

Has been raining alot at home and I managed to get the safari stuck driving down the paddock the other day, so now its a big walk for me down to the ponies... and Nells who is now on real grass. She is also waiting for a new home via the spca..

I am now 23 weeks and am on the down hill slope, all a bit scary really...
Abbs has been withdrawn from sale... and Bills is still fat! Teddy is loving having a paddock to run around in now and hasn't managed to escape...yet....

We have new neighbours, who I am yet to meet, as have been so flat out..

Pics to come later!

I gave up waiting

on the furniture to be moved from spare room... I have now painted out the feature wall and am going to paint the room this coming weekend.
The tackroom is coming on thankfully, and the storage part is to be the first bit to be completed so I can move all the crap out...wahooo
Nells had a handling session as did Teddy, who was also getting used to be driven! Go Teds....

Bills new cover arrived last night, and just in the nick of time as it seems the weather has finally turned on us.

The neighbours place also looks to have sold.... to people Kylie has met, so hoping for some who do use the road out the front as a race track this time around.

Dopey is good and taking his meds well...

My poor Dopey

Dopey is my cat, and on Friday night he had a bad turn... Couldn't breath properly, and unable to use his hind legs... He was taken to the vet where we found he had dilated cardiomyopathy, and had had a blood clot released to his back legs...

The stabilised him and we took him home... next day he had an ECG... poor wee fella is to be on meds for the rest of his life...

Which maybe very short =0(..

Noof

Yay

Yesterday we had our heat pump put in... feeling good about being sorted for wither this year..
Gave Noof a brush and a bit of a massage yesterday, she was trying to itch me back, which was very cute.
I think she is putting on weight really well now, which is fantastic.
Ted has a bit of a tummy upset, so will give him some scourban tonight and see if that helps, also a panacur drench maybe in order.
I have made the decision to advertise Abbie, which has been a hard decision to make, but with baby on the way I just don't think I will have the time, and I may also not be able to get paid maternity leave, will find out in June...
Have written an add for her so will go home tonight and pop on TM when I sort some pics.

2 weeks down!

And Noof (Nelly), is now following me around, she can also be covered with out having to have a led rope on...
We have an appointment with the farrier on Tuesday, so hopefully she will behave for that! We are also having a heat pump installed on Wed, so looking forward for that just in time for winter!
I have also found a bench and sink to go in the tack room, and collect that next weekend, along with 10 ribbonwoods..

Thanks to ENERGY WORKS

(link over to the right) who have kindly donated some remote healings for Nellie.... She is obviously a bit the worse for wear, but has a strong spirit, and there is to be no pity for her!

I managed to cover and uncover her yesterday, she also had a brush... picked up both front feet, but she couldn't/wouldn't balance for me to pick them out... but its a start!

Busy day

Lots done around home, including the tackroom getting well underway.... Nellie was a doll, jarmies straight on... she had today off from everything else.

Big thankyou to Erin

Yesterday Erin came out to give me a hand with Nellie.... She had a bath, got all her sores treated... she got all her feet bar one successfully picked up... I think she is very sore as seems unable to hold her weight with that leg off the ground. She also had a cover on... Looks like the one I have here will fit her as well, so very happy with that....

She is looking much happier as I have given her access from her paddock to one of the yards, she can now see things going on and can chat to Ted...

Awwww

Well today she called out when she saw me.... yes I had feed... but it was so cool!
I bushed her face neck, shoulder, back some belly and even flanks, she was so good...
I even started the top of her front legs, she was ok, then stomped at me so I growled at her, and she started licking and chewing... We did a bit of leading, and some backing off pressure work for a min... much improved... so she was allowed to eat in peace...
She has also discovered the willow trees, and is ever so carefully removing the leaves! Very cute...

Farrier has rung back...

We are booked in on the 28th of Arirl (soon as he could fit me back in) so we have a bit of work to do between now and then... Erin is going to come and help me get her used to having feet handled and hopefully get a cover on for the first time!!

Pics of Nelly

Well, we had a wee handling session today, some forward and back... she had her mane brushed, and loved it... also started to have a vetadine bath, but I only got her face, neck and shoulder done, as I am a bit worried about getting myself hurt. She is eating well now and seems to be settling.

Pony shrunk and became a mare =0P

This is the new rescue girl, she is very sweet and trusting... likes having pats and eating well

Rescue pony to arrive today!

Well after the property check yesterday I am getting a new addition today... a 5 year old sundon gelding... he is one to the ones in better condition... I hope to have some more recent pics soon... this one comes from Rahn, who together with Lisa have done a great job for these guys.

YAY

We have got the tack shed area ready for concrete, so are waiting to get it pored... Also looking to find a door an window at the moment.
Billy and Abbs are still fat and hairy, and hanging out.... as is Teddy.
Recently in Canterbury a number of horses were rescued from a breeder in Halswell... I have put my name down to foster one, so will maybe getting one this week, but we will see.
In other news I am also 13 weeks pregnant, not at all horseie, but perhaps a reason for the ponies being turned out and fat and hairy!
We are also having a heat pump installed on the 28th and I cant wait!! yay!!

All the ponies have the farrier tonight, and Abbs had her teeth done on Monday, now down to 6 monthly visits!! yeharrr

Things are happening!

We have moved the tack shed shed, out from the 6bay shed to start building the tack room! This will also be used to house some excess furniture etc, and hopefully also mean the garage can be used for cars (shock horror)...
This weekend I am hoping to get the floor leveled, and maybe boxed... also the same for in front of the horse boxes...
We still need some hay to move before we can concrete, but hopefully in the next few weeks we can get a bit shifted...
I have also moved the gg's from the quarantine paddock that they were moving down as I have offered to take a quite Halswell rescue horse, but unsure if they will have one suitable for me...
Bills and Abbs are getting hairy and fat, and have been enjoying the lovely weather for the past 2 days.
Teddy is looking like a puff ball... I will start to walk him or jog him behind the quad down to feed out the others at night time for some much needed exercise!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Well,

Not much to add, Bills is still resting... and enjoying getting grass!
Abbie is coming home tomorrow for a break, will be funny to have her home again.
I have got everyones winter covers sorted, so feeling very happy about that. Also planning on making the tack shed, to remove alot of furniture etc from the house and garage... The nights are definitely starting to get colder already, think winter wont be far off this year.
Still have a stack of hay to get sold... and managed to get some lucerne last weekend...
Duckie has gone to live with Anita, and has made some new friends, so thats great news.....

Some pics of the event

Bills and Abbie are both having a bowen treatment tomorrow... Bills is having a bit of time off and Abbs has managed to hurt herself... She is still going really well, and is due for a break soon...

Mcleans event

Bills just had new thoroflex shoes put on and looks like he is wearing high heels!

After a very hot week, came a very hot weekend.
Kerry and Cozzy and Billy and I went for a ride/jump at Roydvale... Bills was in a bit of a mood, but came right after a time. It was a long day, coming home and washing and platting and cleaning gear for the next day.
Sunday was another stinking hot day.. Bills had a good day, dressage test was not his best, but def not his worst either! He took a rail sj, again at the double... oxer first and upright second, and a bit on a long stride for his short legs... Cross country he was clear... Managed to get home at about 6 pm, so a long day.... Shaun didnt come home until 4.30am (driving back from Auckland) so had a bit of work to do when I got home.....

Bath time

Teddy was in need of a bath, so had one on Friday, aslo washed his cover...
He had a few "manner" lessons as well, and think he has a better understanding of what I expect from him now...
Took some pics for his reg transfer as well, so will add later (he was very grumpy!) His mane is now much softer, and oh so white...

I lunged Bills over a grid at home, and that went well... he is starting to get better with that sort of thing.

Event this weekend, and then the float is in to have vents put in, the back door done and hopefully the padding done...

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Awww

Bills loves his new friend, and has been spotted giving him back licks over the gate.
Teddy has had a wee lesson on manners, but is just lovely... he can even get up on the deck at home, but it is fairly high for his wee leggies.
Shaun really likes him, and has put his jarmies on twice this week...
I went to watch a bit of the dressage at the weekend, was good to see.... Missed watching Kerry on Cozzy, but saw Jaffa, and he was very calm...
Wednesday we had another twilight, Bills had been a bit of a twit in the paddock before I caught him (in fact he wasn't really into being caught at all, which is odd for him)he was galloping and bucking around his track!
His dressage test was fairly marginal, but we later discovered a big knot in one of his muscles.
Sj was a bit better, but sill a rail on the last of the double...
Xc was alot better, the Mexican grakle seems to have done the trick and Kerry had some breaks...
They ended up 4th overall, and are sitting 4th for the series....
pics to come

Exciting night for me...

Bills had has eventing last night... he was much better behaved in his new bit... and managed a 2nd after dressage and a 3rd over all...

I also had the newest (and smallest) member of the family arrive... meet Teddy!

Twlight time again.

Last week was the first of the twilight series part 2. Bills was in a foul mood after his ride in the indoor the following Monday (will never ride him in there again)... He was freaking out at horses knocking the sj and just generally having a bad time... Kerry did well to survive the dressage and went on to one rail and a few (quite a few) bucks sj. Cross country was better, with them doing the majority of the pre novice course and the novice water.
I tried a new bit on him the following day, and it made a huge difference to his taking off issues... so we took him to Mcleans to try it out on Saturday. I schooled him quickly then did a few jumps... I even managed a 85cm oxer, my pet hate! Kerry was jumping him over a mtre... I am really looking forward to the day he learns to tuck his legs properly and stops leaping so much!
We had the hay cut and have over 800 bales in and around the shed! eeekkk
We also have a new gg arriving on Wed, he is all of 30 inches and a real sweetie.....

busy busy

Abbs has been a good girl and had a trot on her second solo ride... She seems brave, and isnt dirty, so very happy with her.
Bills was to be going to the grand nat show later this week, but sadly is still not over his indoor arena phobia, to his credit however he no longer tries to buck and throw all his toys, he just freaks out... so no show for him... However he has twilight eventing again this week, so not sure how the fat pony will cope after eating so much to try to get him show "round" rather than eventing "fit"

Much needed update

Well I have been busy, being on holiday means I have had LOTS to do...
On the Billy front we have had a few lessons, with more this week. Have also had 2 rides out at Mcleans, which have been great, sj first, then a good hack and some xc thrown in for good measure!
Abbie has left home and left Bills an only child for a bit, she is at Kerrys and we are starting her undersaddle. Has been a good learning experience for me as it is all done the Mclean way and is very easy on the ponies. Have also been helping with one of Kerrys at the same time... he is lovely but at 17 hands its very different from one to the other!
At home I have got some native trees, and plan to get somemore. Hay is due to be cut hopefully soon. Have offered the neighbour grazing in the side paddock as well as I am inundated with grass!
